Thought For The Day:  Sometimes we need to take slow steps and we will get there faster!

When we set a pace that is smooth and comfortable, it makes the journey of the day so much easier.  Children have the ability to teach parents so many nuggets.  When my boys were small, I had a sign in my kitchen that said: READ TO YOUR CHILDREN, SING TO YOUR CHILDREN and LISTEN TO YOUR CHILDREN.  I remember our friend, Rabbi Akselrad came over for a birthday party and commented on that sign.  He agreed that listening to children is so very important.  Sometimes we appear to listen, but we don't always hear what they are saying.  My advice is to take it easy and enjoy the moments.  Life is made up of moments and they go by quickly!

Thought For The Day:

At the end of the day, there is nothing more important than family

When we keep our priorities straight, everything falls into place.

Life is a breath and we need to make memories.  Taking vacations, even a three day weekend, going for a bike ride, writing a thank you note are all important things to do.  I once heard someone say treat your family like friends and your friends like family and everyone will win!

Thought For The Day:

Take it easy

Sometimes we need to be reminded to take it easy.  Being a mother can seem overwhelming, so many things to think about and so much to do.

I had to be reminded today that I have the power to choose.  Everyday we have choices and the beautiful thing is we can decide not to decide.  I remember I had a poster in my townhouse at college and it had two words on it ....TAKE TIME.  The older I get the more I appreciate those words.  

Do yourself a favor and relax.  We make the best decisions when we are calm and composed.  Time is our friend and we should never be in a hurry!

Thought for the day:

Children need boundaries and they want boundaries!

Do you ever feel like you desire to love so much that you forget about setting limits and limitations?  No matter if your child is 4 years old or 21 or 40 it is vital to set limits.  How do we as mother's answer to those who want our time, love, energy or money?  The key is knowing when to say yes and when to say no. Take a 4 year old for example...they will push you until they know the limit. In reality the want to know how far they can go.  As mother's we have the opportunity to pour into our children all that we have learned.  Each generation will bring forth new wisdom and new understanding.  There is a saying that people perish for lack of knowledge. We need to teach/ train our children!  Setting boundaries is very important with children, family, at work, with friends.  Be good to yourself and to your children- set boundaries!

Thought for today:

It's not what you say - but how you say it!

Uncle Ben use to always say "Lexy  you can say almost anything to anyone - it's not what you say, but how you say it".  That is really powerful advise!

What we say to our children can make a huge impact on their lives.  We need to be careful to encourage them and build them up.  Words are powerful and once spoken they are out there.  

The tone we use to speak is vital and it makes a  difference on how others will respond to us.  Often when we whisper ...we get the greatest results!

Today's Thought:

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

I love that quote.... the first time I saw it was on a pillow that someone took great care to needlepoint for a dear friend -  it was on her sofa in her beautiful apartment on 5th Avenue in New York.  It is so true that it is nice to be important - but so much more important to be nice.

I work with some amazing people.  I work with well established families who are hiring household help and also hard working humble people who needs jobs....and trust me some of those servers ie: Chefs,Housekeepers, Nannies,  Estate Managers etc... get amazing positions!  In addition some of the people are very hard to please....which makes me want to go the distance to serve.  Being a mom is not always easy and there are days when we wish we could rewind and do things different.  I find that when we get our egos out of the way and humble ourselves everything works out - whether it is working with our children or with other people in our world.  When we walk with kindness others are drawn toward us.  Like the photo of today's thought- the water and the sunset remind me of peace.  We need to pursue peace above all else.  When we are calm and peaceful, we are able to flow with everything around us.  Just for today - one day at a time do your best to be nice.  That does not mean be a doormat and let your children or people walk over you - but whatever you say - say it with love.

Whatever you do in life aim to WIN. Someone once said it's not a important if you win or lose, but how you play the game. I say ...play the game or conduct your life TO WIN!! As moms we need to pour into our children and those in our world that it is important to do everything with all of your might. Believe in yourself and to give 110% percent to every single task- no matter how big or small. It all starts with our thoughts. Thoughts become words- words become actions and actions make all the difference. Life is about choices ...choose to WIN.

Today is the very first day of my blog.

Begin Again Day 1

Since my business is all about Nannies and Household Staffing, I want to dedicate this first day to Julie Andrews the ultimate nanny and governess. So let's start at the very beginning a very good place to start...when you read you begin with A B C when you sing you begin with do re mi do re mi.

The beginning of everything is exciting, new, alive and fresh. However, the end is the best. They say that a person's last words are the most important. I believe that words are very powerful! Words can make a huge impact on lives. Words either create life or death. We need to choose our words wisely and make sure we are people who don't just say something, but truly have something to say! My reason for writing BEGIN AGAIN for Mom's is that everyday is a new day. We can start every 24 hours fresh ...we need to look forward and not backward. To be a mom is the most important job in the universe. Whether you have a 2 week old or a 60 year old, you are a mom and a mother's work is 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Children need three things...love, security and discipline. Just for today I will speak words filled with love and encourage those in my world.
